Taking Count

I’m not sure, but maybe the pandemic has finally caught up with me, but when I go to bed at night, I’m tired! At the beginning of the pandemic, I was fortunate enough to have been hired on by Pragmatic Works, and then my department was sold to 3Cloud! All of the excitement of working for two great companies plus normal life activities really insulated me from dealing with the pandemic. Sure, wearing masks was a drag, but the excitement of working for two great companies really helped me to ignore the obvious problems in the world and my local community.

Living next to Portland, Oregon just makes me sad. Two blocks from where my son grew up is a huge pod of homeless and nothing seems to get better. The great city that I have known for so many years is reeling, damaged, and sick. Hopefully the good citizens of the city will be able to clean it up and heal the damage that has been done by so many elements.

Also, dragging my son to graduation (he graduated!!!) was a long and tiring process. The pandemic affected him in different ways, but yet he was able to make lemonade out of lemons as well.

But, enough of the sad stuff. What are the good things?

  1. I lost 30 lbs last year since last May, and have kept them off. Now I am working on the next 30…
  2. I have made some wonderful friends around the globe which has broadened my horizons immensely.
  3. I am TRYING to learn Norwegian due to the influence of the friends.
  4. My skills have increased EXPONENTIALLY due to the constant challenges of my job and am loving it!
  5. I have an GREAT leadership team, from my direct manager all the way up.
  6. I am making a lot of progress on my Masonic Lodge (yes, I’m a freemason), and we’re refreshing it and making it much better.
  7. I have a smile (or half smile) on my face most of the time due to all the positive energy I am trying to share!
  8. Oregon Data Community is coming out of the pandemic crisis as well!

What are you grateful for now?
