About Me

I’ve been involved with tech for a long time, going back to my first computer camp in the 1980s working on what were probably VAXes and some Apple IIs as well. I bought my first computer, a TRS-80 Model 1, from my uncle. I earned that thing by working hard for my family and was always grateful. I probably mostly played games on it, but I think I learned a lot of patience which has served me well.

Now I’m a Database Administrator with tons of experience on many OSes (VMS, Unix, Windows), multiple platforms (Oracle, Pervasive, Ingres, and of course Microsoft SQL Server), and a variety of industries to boot.

I currently am a Senior Consultant at 3Cloud having a lot of fun working with a variety of very talented people. I am also on the leadership team for Oregon Data Community, a former PASS sanctioned chapter (but that’s another story), and a great way to meet lots of people and just talk about data.

For fun I like to travel around and speak at SQL Saturdays to see my friends, learn more about different topics, and push myself to really learn a topic so I can share the information and make myself a better person.

More about me…

I’d like to take this chance with Father’s Day coming up and my mother’s birthday to thank the two people who really made me and got me where I am today. Thanks to their love of knowledge and education (they were both teachers), along with a healthy dose of hard work and perseverance, I’d like to think that I’ve continued to embody those beliefs and qualities.

I’d also like to thank all of my SQL Family. I wouldn’t be in my great job without their continued tough love support!

*Peace*
