PNW Day of Data 2026 – Precons posted and the Data Bus!

Just to make my life more difficult, I switched campaign software from Ticketleap to Zeffy due to the flexibility of Zeffy and also their dedication to making sure 100% of funds goes to the non-profit! Thank you Zeffy! For all of you that have already signed up, don’t worry, you’re still registered and I will make sure nothing is lost. I apologize for the change, but getting the precons to work was really challenging in Ticketleap!

All of our precons are listed here in a previous post – https://www.becomingamaster.com/pnw-day-of-data-2026-schedules-live/

The exciting thing is that now you can sign up for them in our new campaign! https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/pnw-day-of-data–2026

I really like the “pay what you can” option in Zeffy. As you can see for the General Admission on Saturday, we REALLY want to know what you want for lunch. We HOPE you’ll pay the ten dollars to offset the cost, but more importantly, we want to know how many lunches we need to have available. Do us a favor. Sign up for the event. Pick a lunch. Donate what you can afford to help us continue to provide FREE TECHNICAL EDUCATION to the greater SW Portland/Vancouver area via local, regional, and international speakers. Other than a clever t-shirt and a speaker dinner, our speakers are paying for the full cost for their travel, lodging, and meals out of their own pockets. The best way to reward us (yes, I identify as a speaker and a DBA) is to SHOW up, ask questions, and enjoy the day. No attendees, no fun for speakers.

But…while you’re there, for the first time in a number of years, and many thanks to our sponsor WSUV (Go Cougs!), we are going to have precons. We have three choices and all three of them will be life altering, amazing, and just fun to watch. We are asking a small fee of 150 dollars in order to pay our workshop presenters for the time it takes to prepare an eight hour session that will include handouts, labs, an opportunity to ask all the questions, and of course…lunch. It’s going to be hard to choose between them, but they’re all going to be amazing. They will be on campus on the 6th of November, Friday. More details will be provided once you sign up.

Finally…the Data Bus. After talking to multiple community friends, I decided to go with the Data Bus instead of the SQL Train. While the train is cool, it’s also expensive and not very flexible. I will forever be known as the guy who…

Reasons for the Bus – It’s cheaper. It’s more flexible as we can have pickups in both Portland and Vancouver. We can stop whenever we want for ice cream. We’re going to have a ROCKING podcast on the bus hosted by Kellyn Gorman and Pat Wright (more details incoming). The bus is going to drop off directly at the Hyatt Regency in Seattle. I understand people like the train. I like riding trains. If you don’t want to ride the bus, that’s ok, but I think it’s going to be fun. If we get enough people, we can get two buses! Either way, if you would like to ride the bus, please click on the ticket on the campaign link and pay what you can!
